Picasso’s Dream Unveils Central Ohio’s Premier Progressive Rock EP ‘Commentary’ on Frontman’s Birthday Extravaganza

COLUMBUS, DEC 21 – Picasso’s Dream, Central Ohio’s Premier Progressive Rock band, is thrilled to announce the release of their highly anticipated EP, ‘Commentary.’

“Commentary” is a landmark achievement for Central Ohio’s premier progressive rock outfit, showcasing a five-year musical journey that highlights the band’s evolving sound and storytelling capabilities. This release stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts within the band and the unwavering support of their dedicated fanbase.

The EP includes the much-celebrated single ‘Bates Motel,’ seamlessly integrated into the complete package originally envisioned by the band. Fans can finally experience the full scope of this musical journey that began over half a decade ago.

Adding an exciting twist to the EP is a revamped version of ‘Unstoppable Force,’ now featuring the electrifying guitars of Chase VanderMaas. Remixed by the talented Gustavo Madrid, this new iteration brings a heavier and rocking vibe, staying true to the band’s original vision.

‘Coming Into the City,’ a track penned over a decade ago by Anthony S. Anselmo, is another highlight of the EP. Inspired by his experiences navigating Columbus traffic during his early years, this song is a testament to the enduring creativity of Central Ohio’s Premier Progressive Rock band.

Rounding out the EP are the familiar and beloved singles ‘Streetcar Race’ and ‘Walk On Out the Door,’ providing a dynamic listening experience that encapsulates the band’s signature sound.

The Anselmo Project the side solo effort of Picasso’s Dream keyboardist Anthony (Picasso) S. Anselmo has announced the long awaited Progressive Rock album called David the Elder to be released Dec 1st along with final single ‘A Whisper.’

A Whisper features vocals from the talented Dee Jazzaz based out of New Zealand. The song is part of a story of which is revealed on the David the Elder record. 

The amazing Francesco Mega returns for Acoustic with Dave Mahler providing the thundering Bass.

The Progressive Rock Story

The Progressive Rock concept album is based upon a story from Anthony’s long-time partner Daniel Noland. Featuring numerous talented individuals from around the world, the album paints a story of a lone man, trapped in a mysterious world and the strange events that occur around him. Taking over five years to construct and complete, the album it is an epic ProgRock masterpiece. 

Mastered by a team of talented Award Winning Producers and clocking in just under eighty minutes. The album is huge behemoth to delight any progressive rock listeners ears. 

“Daniel had this amazing story he had written that he hopes to turn in a series of books one-day. In the meantime, I quickly realized this could become an amazing concept album” says Anselmo. “It has been a long ride but I’m very proud of everyone’s efforts to help bring this vision to its full completion.”

Starring on the album is Louis A. Marchena as David the Elder, Cam Stark as The Boy, Dee Jazzaz as The Lady of Light, and David Merriman as The Internal Voice. 

The album also features guest appearances from Matthew Kerschner (Gravity, Lux Terminus), Haraold Kay (Anselmo/VanderMaas), Stephen Jones (Blue August), Brian Randolph (Picasso’s Dream), Max Bigalow (Picasso’s Dream), Alex Lazcano (Lazleitt), Alex Furst (Fade To Oblivion), Zahn Krava (Downright Nasties), Paul Budzynski (Downright Nasties) and many more special guest stars.

New Progressive Rock Single – ‘Serenity’ by Picasso’s Dream featuring the Cleveland legend Rick Ray.

PRESS RELEASE – COLUMBUS OHIO – Picasso’s Dream Central Ohio’s premier progressive rock band, releases new single “Serenity,” featuring Cleveland legend Rick Ray. “Serenity” was originally written and recorded by Cleveland-based progressive rock band Gravity on their 2010 album Midnight Sonata. Picasso’s Dream is excited to pay tribute to this inspiring band from the rock and roll capital of the world.

Progressive Rock at its Finest!

The song features guest guitarist Rick Ray from the Rick Ray Orbital Transmitter. Rick Ray has been a Cleveland staple for over 50 years. He’s has played to numerous Cleveland crowds and opening for popular groups such as Blue Oyster Cult, Fates Warning, and Kansas.

“It’s an absolute thrill to have Rick star with us on this effort! I could think of no better talent for a Cleveland cover than one of the great legends of Cleveland shredding on this track,” says Anthony Anselmo, Producer and Keyboardist of Picasso’s Dream.

Along for the ride are regulars Vincent Simon on Drums, Max Bigalow on Bass, and Tony Kertis on Saxophone. “Serenity” was recorded at Blue Moon Studios in Columbus, Ohio, with Grammy Award-winning producer Paris Hollins mixing and mastering.

“Gravity was one of my major influences as I began my musical career. I would drive up to Cleveland several times a year to see these talented individuals play. They were a major inspiration for me to start my own band. Now it’s great to come full circle and pay tribute to them,” continued Anselmo.

With all the chaos going on in the world right now, Picasso’s Dream hopes the song will bring some peace and “serenity” to fans everywhere. The band is offering the track for FREE to download off their BandCamp page.

The Anselmo Project the solo project of Picasso’s Dream keyboardist Anthony  S. Anselmo has re-released A Child’s Dream, a remixed and remastered version of the song.

The single is from the upcoming Progressive Rock Concept album David the Elder. The song is an instrumental rock epic with multiple tapestries of sound. Combining both Synthwave and Progressive elements the song is a feast for musically inclined ears.

The Progressive Rock Story

After a lifetime of adventures in a world of his own creation, the Boy settles into a season of rest. However, it would not be for soon he would face his greatest challenge. An outsider appears in his otherworld. A Man of mystery, who is familiar to the Boy, had he the opportunity to know the man.

The song features brilliant guitar work from XterraBill who has worked with Anselmo throughout the album. Also, Prog-veteran Alex Lazcano adds the heavy bass and Logan Wrainright is once again featured on drums.

“In preparation for the full album Tony Thompson has remixed the song to provide better clarity for each of the instruments. He really made the drums really ‘pop’ now and the clarity of the overall instruments can be heard.” says Anselmo.

Modern Rock Band Fifth Bridge is Born!

Fifth Bridge –  The combination of members from both Picasso’s Dream and Blue August have joined together to create new music for the next decade and years to come.

Merged through the efforts of Keyboardist Anthony S. Anselmo who worked in both bands, Fifth Bridge is a combination of members from two amazing powerhouses from Columbus Ohio. Stephen Jones (Bass) and Jay Ott (Guitar) from Blue August and Vincent Simon from Picasso’s Dream.

The band is currently working on new music as well as a collection of classic favorites for upcoming performance later this year, once the Covid 19 Pandemic dies down.

“I am really excited to be working with this collection of amazing and talented individuals,” says Anselmo. “It really it the best merge of both worlds to really take things forward.”

Joining them on vocals is the incredible David Peace from Cleveland Ohio (also Anthony’s hometown.) David has been seen in various bands in the Columbus area (100 Proof and Stadium 11)

“David is an incredible find and we are really excited to have him included with this effort.” says Stephen Jones.

The Anselmo Project the solo project of Picasso’s Dream keyboardist Anthony  S. Anselmo has released a new single featuring the talented Louis A. Marchena and Cam Stark (No Rest.)

The new single The Visitor is from the upcoming Progressive Rock Concept album David the Elder. The song features the discussion between the protagonist and antagonist as they discuss the events around them. 

The Progressive Rock Story

“Louis plays David the Elder, who is an average working man mysteriously thrown into a world of strange weird creatures. He finds himself in a world where he has the ability to create anything his heart desires. And he encounters a young boy who has been living in this world and has these same powers as he does,” says Anselmo. “Cam plays the part of the boy who can not understand the adult nature of the man.”

The song features brilliant and elegant acoustic guitar work from Francesco Mega who has worked with Anselmo on previous efforts. The song takes an acoustic approach to the story shaping as if it were a theatrical presentation.

“So I really wanted to make you feel as you were watching a grand opera on stage for this, ” says Anselmo.

 The Progressive Rock concept album is based upon a story from Anselmo’s long-time partner Daniel Noland and features numerous talented individuals from all over the world.

“Daniel had this amazing story he had written and is planning to turn into a series of books. Meanwhile I quickly realized this could become an amazing concept album similar to the likes of The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway, or Metropolis Part II.” says Anselmo.

Artwork for the album is created by the talented Jason Bascom, known for his comics and album artwork from Something Involving A Monkey.

Columbus Ohio – Central Ohio’s Premier Progressive Rock group releases new single featuring vocalist J.D. Freeman.

Picasso’s Dream has released their new single Notion, their first vocal song featuring guest artist J.D. Freeman from the well known act Blend. 

Notion also welcomes on lead guitar fellow friend Jay Ott. Jay Ott and Anthony S. Anselmo were both involved in the highly successful and award winning Blue August Progressive Rock band. 

Progressive Rock – Now with Vocals!

“Jay had a song he had written years ago with a specific keyboard part. I loved it the moment I heard it, very Rush like. We just had to make this song a reality!” says Keyboardist and Anthony S. Anselmo.

A song of this magnitude required a magnificent voice, so the band tapped local vocalist JD Freeman from the Columbus Indie-band Blend to help. Anselmo had been working with Blend adding some keys to  their upcoming album.

“J.D.’s golden voice was perfect for helping to bring the lyrics to life,” says Jay Ott. “He really studied the song and the day he came in he knocked it out of the park.”

Also included on the track are Picasso’s Dream regulars Max Bigalow on Bass and Vincent Simon on Drums. The song was recorded and produced by the legendary Paris Hollins at Blue Moon Recording Studios in Central Ohio.

(Columbus OH) – Picasso’s Dream – Central Ohio’s Premier Progressive Rock group launches their new single for Unstoppable Force. Unstoppable Force features both newcomer Chris Bianchi on Guitar and Tony Kertis on Sax.

Unstoppable Force is the first in the upcoming second featured album from Picasso’s Dream currently wrapping up production. The album features Vincent Simon on Drums, Max Bigalow on Bass and founded member Anthony S. Anselmo on keyboards.

Full Progressive Rock Steam Ahead!

Produced and recorded at Blue Moon Studios in Central Ohio, Picasso’s Dream second album will feature an array of new instrumental tracks as well as vocals from various members and guests.

“We basically set out what we wanted to accomplish in the first album,” says keyboardist Anthony S. Anselmo. “We discovered a lot of our talented members could sing so we had to start incorporating this into our music as well.”

“The new album features the increased complexity of the group as a whole.” says bassist Max Bigalow. “It was an ultimate pleasure making it and a joy to work with the incredible Paris Hollins at Blue Moon Studios.”

It’s been four years since Picasso’s Dream’s debut album that became a central Ohio staple for Hypnotic Progressive Rock. With the upcoming album the team hopes to continue their legacy to the midwest area.

“As we usually say ‘The Sky’s the Limit'” says Anselmo.

Picasso’s Dream Central Ohio’s Premier Hypnotic Progressive Rock launches their new single ‘Bates Motel’ coming this May 28th.

Picasso’s Dream is the brain child of Cleveland to Columbus native Anthony S. Anselmo. At 35, Anthony decided to fulfill his life long dream to start a band. Anthony was inspired to shape the band by combining visual imagery that specifically tied into instrumental Progressive Rock. After a long extensive effort Anthony met Nyack New York native/Nashville inspired classic rocker Chase VanderMaas who shared the same passion of Progressive Rock. Chase invited Brian Randolph (Drummer/Singer from Calling Caine) and Carl Perry (Bassist from Calling Caine) to jam. Very shortly afterwards Picasso’s Dream was founded.

Progressive Rock Progressing Forward

In the spring of 2017, Picasso’s Dream was reformed as version 2.0 adding former live Bassist Max Bigelow, and Drummer extraordinaire Vincent Simon. Special guest star Tony Kertis also to joins on the wailing Saxophone. 

Bates Motel is the first official release of the reformed band. Inspired by the 1960 movie Psycho, Bates Motel tells the story of the disturbed Norman Bates from inside his head and the series of actions that take place in the movie.

“The song started back when Carl and Brian were in the band,” says Keyboardist and Co-Producer Anthony S. Anselmo. “And it was lingering for a year until we brought it back into the spotlight with the reformation of the band. I’m extremely happy to finally see it brought to its full potential.”

“This song is really a personal journey for me. I’m pulling on numerous guitar influences interwoven together to create a hard-hitting rock tapestry. Keith Richards, Ronnie Wood, etc… all the of my guitar influences are in this song.” says Guitarist Chase VanderMaas.
